Samsung is gearing up its midrange portfolio for the 5G era with the release of the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G.

Launched alongside the Galaxy A51 5G, the new Samsung Galaxy A71 5G is pretty much identical to the 4G-only Galaxy A71 that we saw before.

It’s still large and sleek with its 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen. There’s a Infinity-O punch-hole on the top for the selfie camera that helps achieve that impressive ~91% screen-to-body ratio.

We also have the same quad-camera setup on the back, led by a 64-megapixel main shooter and 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. It’s the same set of cameras that impressed us in our full review.

Juicing it up is the large 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. And of course, an in-display fingerprint scanner for a cleaner look.

Speaking of design, one of the main changes on the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G is the dual-tone paint job on the back. It’s now called Prism Cube from Prism Crush of the former. Albeit, it still uses the same material from the previous model.

But, the main changes here are seen under the hood. A processor upgrade was necessary to bring 5G connectivity on the Galaxy A71. The problem is, in typical Samsung fashion, the actual chipset used was not mentioned in their press release.

If we were to speculate, Samsung might have used the popular Snapdragon 765 5G, which is seen in devices like the Mi 10 Lite, since the Galaxy A71 had the Snapdragon 730G. However, it’s more plausible that Samsung used its own Exynos 980 chipset.
