Samsung just revealed two new entry-level smartphones dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo and Galaxy Star. These devices are specifically targeted to budget conscious consumers who want to try owning an android phone. It’s been a long time since they’ve released an affordable android phone in our country so we’re hoping that either or both of these two will reach the Philippines.

These android phones were leaked in benchmark tests last February along with few unreleased devices. The first to take off is the Samsung Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Young a month ago but it’s still not available anywhere in the world. Today, the rumored Galaxy Pocket 2 and the Galaxy Star became official.

Galaxy-Pocket-Neo

Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo is the more conservative smartphone among the two. It will flaunt a 3.0-inches QVGA display just like the good old Samsung Galaxy Y and it will pack a slightly better 850MHz processor. It also has 512MB of RAM and the standard 4GB internal storage for apps, games, and media. A 2-megapixel shooter is positioned at the back and there is no front camera included. All standard smartphone connectivity features are here as well. As expected, this low-end device runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The rest of the specs are listed below.

Galaxy-Star

Samsung Galaxy Star has a small upperhand at the processing power because of its 1GHz CPU but it lacks a major connectivity option – 3G. I know some of you don’t even use it as you’re relying mostly on Wi-Fi but in order to have a decent browsing experience on a smartphone, a fast mobile data connection is required so if you’re on  EDGE that might take a little while. This thing runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean too and it has 512MB of RAM to handle the basic smartphone needs. Other than the difference in connectivity and the slight bump in the processor, everything else is the same with the Galaxy Pocket Neo.
