Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max: Snapdragon 720G processor, 6.67-inch display, 5020mAh battery

Xiaomi has discontinued the Mi Max series. This is why we are now getting the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max.

Let’s start with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro. This thing has a large 6.67-inch FHD+ IPS screen, with a 16-megapixel punch-hole on the center, cleverly obscured by the art wallpaper.

One of the key design changes is on the back. The quad-camera setup on the back is in a 2×2 orientation, which is part of Xiaomi’s Aurora Balance Design.

The one on the top left is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, next to the 48-megapixel main shooter. Below them are the 5-megapixel macro shooter and 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Xiaomi put the fingerprint scanner on the side, which doubles as the lock/power switch, for a cleaner look.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro is powered by the controversial Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor — the same chipset found on the Realme 6 Pro. It then comes with a 5,020mAh battery with an 18W fast charging support.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro has an official price of INR12,999 (~Php8,900) for the 4GB/64GB model, and INR15,999 (~Php11,000) for the 6GB/128GB variant. It will go on sale starting March 17.

Back in June 2019, Xiaomi announced that they will be discontinuing the Mi Max and Mi Note series. So for those who miss it, the company is launching the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

Oddly enough, it has more similarities with the non-Max model than what the Redmi Note 8 Pro is to the non-Pro model.

In fact, the only main difference here is the selfie and primary cameras, which was upgraded to a 32-megapixels from 16-megapixels and 64-megapixel from 48-megapixel, respectively. The included charger was also upped to 33W from 18W. And lastly, the Max model is available with 8GB of RAM.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a starting price of INR14,999 (~Php10,400) for the 6GB/64GB model, INR16,999 (~Php11,700) for the 6GB/128GB, while the top-of-the-line 8GB/128GB variant will be at INR18,999 (~Php13,100) .

It will be available a day earlier by March 16. Meanwhile, the pricing and availability of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max in the Philippines is yet to be announced. So stay tuned for that.
