Xiaomi launched quite a lot of Mi and Redmi phones in the past, but it seems like we will no longer be expecting a Mi Max 4 and Mi Note 4 in the future.

The company CEO, Lei Jun, made this announcement official via Weibo post. Jun stated that they have no plans of releasing a follow up to the Mi Max 3 and Mi Note 3 this year. On that light, recall that Xiaomi and Redmi now function as a separate brand.

Jun explained that the Xiaomi brand will focus on new technologies, premium phones, and flagships. On the other hand, Redmi will take on the latest technologies on a budget. This could be part of Xiaomi restructuring their strategies, as they also reformed their MIUI Global beta program.

It was also specified that the Mi series will turn its focus on high-performance models—assimilating recent innovations such as the Mi 9 and Mi Mix series, as well as the upcoming CC range.

Lei Jun also added they will still continue to develop products that will people will love and are also “kindly priced”.
