Pokemon has always been a very popular franchise that seems to never stop growing. In fact, from starting out as a video game for the classic Nintendo Game Boy, they were able to expand it as an animated series, movie, trading card game and more.

Fast forward to today, where mobile gaming is considered as enjoyable as console gaming. It’s a no brainer for Pokemon to have the same presence in the mobile market. In fact, here are some of the best Pokemon mobile games you can download and play on your smartphones right now.

Side note: Some games on here are not yet released but are on their way!

1. Pokémon Go

Probably the most popular mobile game from Pokémon, Pokemon Go is an augmented reality game developed by Niantic.

Its main premise is to walk around your neighborhood and to try catching Pokemon in real life! This game also became an unexpected source for promoting good health as the game requires you to walk around, catching Pokemon, battling trainers at Gyms and even hatching eggs! Pokemon Go was released on July 6, 2016 for the iOS and Android.

2. Pokémon Masters

Pokemon Masters is a game where you can form and battle against teams made up from past Pokemon trainers from the original games.

You can also enjoy co-op play as you can team up with your friends in order to become the ultimate champion. Pokemon Masters is expected to be released on August 29, 2019. Yes, technically, you can’t download it right now but you can in two days!

3. Pokémon Rumble Rush

Pokemon Rumble Rush takes the player to a world full of uncharted islands filled with Pokemon! The mobile game was based on the first Rumble Rush released back in 2009 for the Nintendo Wii.

The gameplay might seem repetitive but it’s actually not. Every two weeks, the islands and seas explored will change. This also means new Pokemon every two weeks! Pokemon Rumble Rush was released back in May 15, 2018 for Android.

4. Pokémon Quest

Pokemon Quest is a free-to-play action-adventure game released back in June 2018 for Android and iOS. The players’ main goal is to explore Tumblecube Islands and collect new Pokemon for your base.

Speaking of bases, you can construct buildings and other tools needed for supremacy. The game also has a Nintendo Switch version that was released back in May 2018.

5. Pokémon Playhouse

Pokemon Playhouse is a video game mainly developed for children, specifically children from ages 3-5 years old. It introduces the world of Pokemon to the newer generations.

Your main task is to take care of your Pokemon and interact with them throughout various locations. If you have a younger sibling or a child of your own, this game could be for them

6. Pokemon TCG Game

The official Pokemon Trading Card Game allows you to play against the AI or even real-life players. Along with that, you can also trade your cards with other players.

The more and more you play, the more cards you can get! The one downside about this game is that it is not available for download on every device. It is only available for Windows, Mac, iPad 4th Gen onwards and other Android Tablets. You can check here if your device is compatible. Pokemon TCG Online was released on May 9, 2016.

7. Pokemon Shuffle

Pokemon Shuffle is a puzzle game where you can battle, collect, and level up your Pokemon. Your main objective is to line up a minimum of 3 different Pokemon in order to clear stages. Think of it as a Pokemon Candy Crush or some sort. Pokemon Shuffle was released back in August 31, 2015 for iOS and Android.

8. Magikarp Jump

Ah yes, the weakest Pokemon, Magikarp. I wonder if he will ever be the star of his own game…

Well… Magikarp Jump is a game centered around the most useless Pokemon – Magikarp. All you have to do is feed your Magikarp and train them to increase their jump power! Also, you will be able to raise different generations of Magikarps as you progress through the game. Magikarp Jump was released in May 2017 for iOS and Android.

Hopefully, these Pokemon Mobile games will be able to satisfy your Pokemon taste buds as we all wait for the new Nintendo Switch Game: Pokemon Sword and Shield.
