After being around for about two years, PUBG Mobile has faced a lot of competition — even one from a prominent FPS franchise.

Despite that, PUBG Mobile is still one of the most popular smartphone games around the world. In fact, it was even hailed as the highest-earning mobile game last May 2020. Now, Tencent’s PUBG Mobile team announced that the PUBG Mobile 1.0 update is finally launching on September 8, 2020.

The company claims that the update will bring 30% in frame rate increase and 76% in lag decrease. Of course, the amount of improvement will still depend on the capabilities of the smartphone you’re using.

PUBG is also adding a couple of significant and visible improvements. A couple of design overhauls are added like a new lobby screen, parachuting, sprinting, and more.

Graphical components were also upgraded. The new lighting systems, texture quality, models, and more will bring a new and realistic appeal to the environment.

Elements like particles, air blasts, smoke, muzzle flashes, and a new scope interaction were also added to make firing and combat more realistic.

Moreover, the PUBG Mobile Global Championship will kick off this November 2020. Pro players from South and SouthEast Asia, China, Middle East, Europe, and Americas will battle it out for a prize pool of USD2 million (around Php97 million).

With the pandemic going on, a rep from the PUBG Mobile Team says that having on-site audiences on the PMGC Season Zero would not be possible. But if it is safe to do so, the league may start in late November, happening on multiple studios.
