It’s been a tough fight between these two. The specs comparison table shows that these two smartphones are almost alike, but they do have key differences in some areas as well.
For starters, the Huawei Y6 2018 is noticeably cheaper by Php2,000. And despite the OPPO A71 2018 being the more expensive option — it didn’t translate to a more appealing set of features.
The Huawei Y6 2018 has a bigger screen at 5.7-inches with the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio. Meanwhile, the OPPO A71 2018 only has a 5.2-inch display and is stuck with an old 16:9 aspect ratio.

The Huawei Y6 2018 also took a clear win on the software side. It runs on a relatively newer operating system with Android 8.0 Oreo, while the OPPO A71 2018 is trapped in the past with its Android 7.1 Nougat OS.
However, let’s not discount the fact that the A71 is powered by a much better processor. It is rigged with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset, which is evidently better than the Snapdragon 425 chipset found on its competitor.
But other than the processor, it Huawei’s offering has other aspects covered. The two shares the same camera specs, battery capacity, RAM, and storage space.
In the end, it boils down to the consumers’ preference. If you want a better gaming experience, the OPPO A71 has better processing prowess which would translate into a speedy operation. On the other hand, the Huawei Y6 2018 has a better screen, more recent OS, and a cheaper price tag.
The OPPO A71 2018 is now available nationwide for a price of Php7,990, while the Huawei Y6 2018 will retail for Php5,990 when it launches on April 28.
