HMD Global has launched a new midrange smartphone — the Nokia X6. This means that the players in this already saturated market have another competitor.
One of the smartphones that the Nokia X6 is going up against is the Vivo V9. This device is Vivo’s current midrange superstars in the SouthEast Asian market, especially in the Philippines.
It is still not clear if the Nokia X6 will ever reach the country yet. But considering how special this device is, it will be a bad idea for Nokia to not release it for the global market.
So, we’d like to know how it stacks up with the V9 — one of the popular names in the local smartphone industry today.
Should you patiently wait for the Nokia X6 to arrive in the country? Or should you just head on now and get yourself a Vivo V9? All those questions are going to be answered in our Nokia X6 and Vivo V9 specifications and features comparison.

As you can see, both devices are pretty much identical, which isn’t really that surprising considering that they belong in the same market category.
However, if you examine it carefully, it looks like the Vivo V9 have better numbers in most of the categories in this comparison. Let’s list them, shall we?
First off, the Vivo V9 has a slightly bigger screen. It comes with a screen size of 6.3-inches, while the Nokia X6 only has 5.8-inches. They both have a display notch, though, so they share an identical aspect ratio of 19:9 as well as Full HD+ resolution.
In an unsurprising win, the Vivo V9 has a better 24-megapixel front camera. The X6, on the other hand, only has a 16-megapixel sensor. In addition, Vivo’s camera app is one of the best in this segment, so you can really expect to get more out of it.
And finally, Vivo’s offering comes with a slightly bigger 3,260mAh battery compared to the 3,060mAh capacity found on the Nokia X6. Although the battery performance may still vary depending on how optimized the software is and the user’s usage pattern.
Speaking of the interface and the software, we head on to the Nokia X6 strengths. For starters, the X6 comes with a better Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, while the V9 only has a Snapdragon 626 processor.

Both devices run on Android 8.1 Oreo, although the V9 has Vivo’s own FuntouchOS 4.0 skin. This one is actually subjective, but if you’re a real Android enthusiast, you’d appreciate more if your device runs on a stock Android interface.
Probably the biggest win of the Nokia X6 is its price tag. Although we still don’t have the official price here in the Philippines, the device is priced at CNY1,449 (~Php11,900) for the same 4GB/64GB model in China.
On the other hand, the same configuration of the Vivo V9 retails in the Philippines for a price o Php17,990. The price difference is really day and night. And if the X6’s price inflates when it arrives here due to importation taxes and other fees, we expect it to not go beyond the Php15,000 mark.
So, if you’re willing to wait, we suggest you wait for the Nokia X6 to arrive in the country. But if you are already dying to get a smartphone, and maybe taking selfies is really your thing, then you can now head on to your nearest mall and go get yourself a Vivo V9.
