The new Xiaomi Mi 6X aims to prove once again that Xiaomi is still the king of bang-for-the-buck gadgets. This Chinese company has a long history of offering smartphones that are undeniably cheap for the hardware that they offer.
On the other hand, that isn’t the case with Vivo. In the past, Vivo had a reputation in of launching smartphones that appear to be overpriced for what they actually offer. This is actually due to the chunk of money they are spending on their marketing efforts — something that Xiaomi is clearly not doing.
But with the Vivo V9, the company is trying to change that. This handset packs a lot of the best features that you might expect from a high-end smartphone — in an attempt to help you change your impression to the Vivo.
However, now that the Xiaomi Mi 6X is around, does the Vivo V9 have a chance to win the enthusiasts’ hearts? Or is Vivo still better of relying on their marketing prowess? Find the answer to that question in our Xiaomi Mi 6X vs Vivo V9 specs and features comparison below.

Both the Xiaomi Mi 6X and Vivo V9 have a share of wins and loses in the specs table above. So before we come to conclusion, let’s keep tabs on each other’s scores.
Let’s start with the Mi 6X. The first point obviously goes out to its chipset. This phone runs on a Snapdragon 660 processor, which is definitely better than the Snapdragon 626 running in the competition.
The Mi 6X also has better dual cameras at the back. It has a sharper resolution at 12-megapixel and 20-megapixels, which can also provide 2x optical zoom capability. The other camp is only equipped with a 16-megapixel camera with the extra 5-megapixel sensor providing a helping hand for the Bokeh feature.
The Mi 6X is also available in a slew of color options. That’s far better flexibility than having only two options on the Vivo V9. But judging by Vivo’s move from the past, we expect the V9 to come with new special edition color flavors in the coming months.
Now, let’s tally the Vivo V9’s scores. Point one goes to its better-looking display. And I say better-looking because it looks really identical to the iPhone X — from the notch, taller aspect ratio, and thinner bezels.
The Vivo V9 also has a better front camera sensor. Its 24-megapixel selfie shooter is evidently better than the 20-megapixel sensor on the Mi 6X. Also, it’s important to note that Vivo’s camera software is one of the best in terms of handling selfies and other scene modes.
Lastly, Vivo’s bet has a marginally bigger 3260mAh battery compared to the 3010mAh one found on the Mi 6X.
Despite all these minor advantages, I think the Mi 6X is still the better option — especially for its more affordable price tag. The Vivo V9, which has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, costs Php17,990.
By contrast, the Xiaomi Mi 6X with the same memory and storage configuration is expected to only come at a price of around Php13,000 to Php15,000. And despite the possible price hike that the importation costs might bring, we still expect it to be noticeably cheaper than the Vivo V9.
The official pricing and availability of the Xiaomi Mi 6X here in the Philippines are yet to be announced. So if you really want to get it, you need to wait for a while. And by the time that we already have a launch date, make sure you’re on the lookout as Xiaomi smartphones usually go out of stock very fast.
But if in case you opt for the Vivo V9, you’re in luck as you won’t be having all those availability issues. You can get the V9 on all Vivo stores, kiosks, and third-party resellers nationwide. In fact, pretty much everywhere you go, you can get a hold of a Vivo V9. Nevertheless, before you finalize your purchasing decision, you might want to check our full review of the Vivo V9 here.
On the other hand, that isn’t the case with Vivo. In the past, Vivo had a reputation in of launching smartphones that appear to be overpriced for what they actually offer. This is actually due to the chunk of money they are spending on their marketing efforts — something that Xiaomi is clearly not doing. – True that. One of the reasons why people bought the Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 is they are iphone x clones. Let’s face it, gusto ng mga tao na makita na mukha silang mapera, kahit na hindi naman Iphone x lol.
