Samsung always had a strong portfolio of high-end smartphones. This brand is known for their flagship devices, which were commonly known to be the kings of the Android kingdom.
But in recent years, the competition in the smartphone space has become really high. More and more brands have entered the arena, with some of them are stepping up their game every release.
This is the reason why Samsung is also trying to strengthen their offerings in other price segments of the smartphone market. The new Samsung Galaxy J8 is one of the company’s latest attempt to dominate the saturated midrange arena.
But just like in the high-end category, the Galaxy J8 will also be facing tons of competition from different brands. Names that a lot of people haven’t even heard of until the last couple of years.
One of those companies is Xiaomi. And one of their current midrange offerings, the Xiaomi Mi A2, aims to take on other big names in the industry, including Samsung’s Galaxy J8.
In this Xiaomi Mi A2 versus Samsung Galaxy J8 specifications and features comparison, we’ll help you answer the question that you are here to ask: which between these two devices should you buy? So, without further ado, let’s start.

Samsung sure knows how to make a proper high-end smartphone. But I don’t think we can say the same on their newest midrange release. As you can see, the Xiaomi Mi A2 easily defeats the Samsung Galaxy J8 in this specs battle.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with a sharper 5.99-inch FHD+ screen, while the Galaxy J8 settles for a 6-inch HD+ display. The Super AMOLED panel might provide better colors, but an HD+ screen for a device at this price point is just unacceptable.
Xiaomi’s offering also has a much better Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, while the latter only has a Snapdragon 450 chipset. This is, again, an unacceptable choice for a device in this price range.
Other than the main components, the Mi A2 also beats the Galaxy J8 in some of the extra features. It has a 20-megapixel selfie camera, while the Galaxy J8 only has a 16-megapixel front camera.

The Mi A2 also comes with a 20-megapixel + 12-megapixel rear shooters, which is obviously better than the 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel setup of the Galaxy J8. And as a bonus, Xiaomi rigged the Mi A2 with an Infrared blaster and a more futureproof USB Type-C connectivity.
The Samsung Galaxy J8 does have a 3,500mAh battery, which is relatively larger than the 3,000mAh battery of the former. However, the Xiaomi Mi A2 was able to make up for it by having a faster 10W charger.
Overall, the Xiaomi Mi A2 clearly triumphs this comparison. Its base model, which has a 4GB/64GB configuration, retails for a price of only Php13,990. That’s even cheaper than the Galaxy J8’s Php15,990 price tag. Mi A2 is also available in a 6GB/128GB model, which costs Php17,490.
1,000,000% agree.
Overpriced, low spec, kuha pa celebrity endorsers to inflate the already high price = samsung crap.
