HONOR took a couple of members of the Philippine media to Shenzhen, China to showcase some of its facilities. One of the places we toured is its NextGen Image Lab.
The HONO NextGen Image Lab is a state-of-the-art facility that is a testament to the brand’s commitment to providing a top-notch mobile photography experience to its users. It’s also one of the reasons why the HONOR Magic 6 Pro (coming soon in PH) has been hailed by DXOMARK as the best camera phone in the market today.
Engineers utilize the lab to make advancements in computational technology by using AI and advanced algorithms to improve low-light photography, HDR imaging, and super-resolution zoom.
They also develop optical systems by testing lenses, image stabilization, and different sensors that help take sharper images.
HONOR is also hard at work in developing new and advanced algorithms that help reduce noise, improve color accuracy, and preserve details for both photos and videos.
With the help of user feedback, engineers are also testing new UI camera designs and features to meet user needs.
The HONOR NextGen Image Lab is the birthplace of some of the leading mobile photography features in the industry. There’s the 1200-point LiDAR Matrix Auto Focus System, which helped the HONOR Magic 6 RSR dominate focus accuracy.
There’s also the Automated Comprehensive Photographic Testing System that helps optimize the HONOR Image Engine through different predicted scenarios, which includes different color temperatures, brightness levels, and physical movements.
More than developing tech in the lab, HONOR Philippines VP Stephen Cheng highlighted the importance of real-world testing for them.
The HONOR NextGen Image Lab will continue to operate for future projects. As they do, fans can expect better videography features, sensor technology, and more.
