Dominating the list is HONOR with a 13.2% YoY growth owning 17.1% market share. HUAWEI is inching closely with only a 0.1% difference in market share by posing the most impressive 110% YoY growth.

Both HONOR and Huawei are credited for the “better-than-expected shipments” in China. As per IDC analyst Arthur Guo, HONOR dominated thanks to its “well-rounded product portfolio” and the AI features found on the Magic 6 series.

Meanwhile, HUAWEI came back strong and managed to tie with HONOR, but IDC noted that the “supply constraints will still be a pain point.”

OPPO comes in third at 15.7%, which is also just 0.1% ahead of the third placer, Apple, who had a 15.6% market share. As per IDC, Apple managed to “mitigate the impact of the intense competition” by having price promotions.

vivo comes in last with a 14.6% share.

IDC senior research manager Will Wong noted that the figures suggest that “consumers are more likely to change from one brand to another,” and suggests that brands should “keep innovating to ensure strong customer stickiness.”
