Prepaid load will now be usable for 1 full year upon loading regardless of the amount.
“With this circular, President Rodrigo Duterte hopes to give the public a gift this holiday season that everyone can truly benefit from in the coming years.”
This was a statement coming from Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez after making sure that 2018 will be a good year for prepaid subscribers. Why? It is because as of Wednesday (December 20, 2017), prepaid load credits will be usable for a year since the day it was loaded.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), and the Department of Information and Communications (DICT) signed a memorandum that extends the expiry and validity of prepaid load to 1 (one) year. Regardless of the value that was loaded, the credits will remain usable. It was signed by Ramon Lopez (Trade Secretary), Gamaliel Cordoba (NTC Commissioner), and Eliseo Rio JR. (DICT OIC).
This memorandum seeks to help the millions of cellphone subscribers in the country, allowing an extended time for unused prepaid and an opportunity to save money in the process. Everyone will benefit from this movement, from business owners to regular and average consumers. Whether a business is big or small, it will experience the benefit of this new implementation.
During its previous version, the higher the value of the prepaid credit, the longer it’ll take before it expires. However, DTI and NTC approved that prepaid loads that are intended for promotions and services with a specific period of use are not included in the said memorandum.
