Tired of donning the same PSN Name you’ve registered with when you were a kid? With names like Pikachu123 or SpongeBobFan you’ll surely want a makeover. Luckily, PlayStation has confirmed that they’ll be releasing a new feature that allows you to change your PlayStation Network (PSN) Online ID.

The PSN Online ID change feature beta will be a part of the PlayStation Preview Program. The preview program allows select users to test PlayStation betas and changing their online ID is an included feature.

Changing your online ID for the first time is free of charge. Meanwhile, changes after the first one will cost $9.99 USD or approximately Php541 in the Philippines. For PlayStation Plus subscribers, it’ll cost a little less which would be $4.99 USD or around Php271.

Once the PSN Online ID is changed, gamers will have an option to display their previous ID with their new one. This allows your friends to recognize you and have an ample amount of time to get used to your new ID. Take note that whether you’ve decided to display your old ID or not, you won’t be able to adjust them again. You’ll have to undergo the online ID change process once again.

The online PlayStation Network ID change feature is compatible for PS4 games originally published after April 1, 2018 and most games released before the date. However, not all games and applications released before the said date are guaranteed to work. Along with that, not all PS3 and Vita games are not guaranteed to be supported as well. Should you encounter any issues with your name change, PlayStation suggests reverting the name back.

When the new feature drops, a list of compatible games published before April 1, 2018, will be provided by PlayStation as a reference before making any name changes.

The preview program is scheduled to conclude at the end of November 2018. Meanwhile, the full rollout of the feature to all PS4 owners is planned for early 2019.
