As Valorant enters a new chapter in its ongoing saga of shooting combat, the game is set to receive an update that will see players in teams fight hordes of opponents in dynamic stages, facilitated by a familiar character that’s making a comeback for revenge, Maxbot—Team Deathmatch.

Beginning June 27, 2023, Valorant players will be able to engage themselves in a 5v5 team-based combat, coinciding with the rollout of the first-person tactical hero shooter’s entry into Episode 7 Act 1.

What is Team Deathmatch?

As the name implies, Team Deathmatch is a new game mode where players in teams of five will have to fight their way across four stages of combat, fighting wave after wave of enemies, with their chosen loadout.

The new game mode is made special in that it features three semi-familiar maps or maps that are made especially for Team Deathmatch.

Unlike existing game modes where the player’s default loadout varies significantly according to their agent of choice, Team Deathmatch makes the experience exciting and fresh by allowing players to use different weapons, while retaining their unique abilities.

Valorant Team Deathmatch Format

A single match in Team Deathmatch mode lasts 9 minutes and 30 minutes, with plenty of chances for players to die and respawn in 1.5 seconds with a 15-second protection from damage thereafter.

As the players in each team are in it to survive the onslaught, the key to winning is to be the first team to kill 100 enemies or otherwise garner the most points at the end of the fight. Yet, the possibility of a tie is never ruled out.

Unlike other game modes, Valorant Team Deathmatch does not feature spikes or sites.

While the idea of getting flooded by opponents seems disadvantageous to both teams, the game mode makes a balancing act by providing each team with Recovery and Powerup orbs that give them significant leverage in-game.

Orbs themselves are not for single-player use as they offer an area-of-effect kind of buff that encourages players to rally in a single location from time to time whenever a buffer is up.

Although enjoying Valorant in a new game mode is certainly a strong appeal, participants will be in it, too, for its rewards—giving each player 1,000 Valorant XP (experience points) per run.

Valorant Deathmatch Maps

There is plenty to be remembered when Team Deathmatch rolls out, but the game mode’s custom maps, while slightly familiar, are certainly a part of it. For instance, Kasbah, District, and Piazza have elements seen in Bind, Split, and Ascent, respectively.

Valorant Team Deathmatch Loadout

Perhaps its most outstanding feature, Team Deathmatch’s loadout is certainly memorable as well for the freedom for it to be handpicked at the start of every match or whenever a player respawns from a state of death.

The loadout is particularly interesting also in that they become enhanced and become better weapons with each stage.

Further, the initial loadout is not the only arsenal that each player can use as each map provides spawn points where weapons, which vary per match, would pop up for anyone to pick up and use to their team’s advantage.
