The popular free-to-play tactical shooter, Valorant, is set to arrive on consoles, according to Riot Games’ announcement during the Summer Game Fest.
Starting June 14, a limited beta version of the game will be released for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. After the beta phase, Riot Games will address any issues based on player feedbacks before releasing the game globally.
Interested players must sign up for the beta through the official registration page. Initially, the beta will be accessible only in the US, Europe, Canada, Japan, and the UK, with additional regions expected to follow later on. Riot Games has also confirmed that there won’t be crossplay among console and PC players to maintain Valorant’s standard for competitive integrity.
To provide a better experience, the developer said that the game has been redesigned with console controllers in mind, offering “custom-built” gameplay. While crossplay won’t be available, players will benefit from a shared gameplay progression and connected inventory. Additionally, both PC and console players will get updates at the same time, ensuring that new agents, patches, maps, and other content are in sync.
For those unfamiliar with Valorant, the game is known for its emphasis on team strategy despite being mainly a tactical shooter. This is also why its esports community has grown massively over the past few years.
