During the time when Grab took over Uber’s operation in the Philippines, Grab has been ordered by the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) to refund its customers over previous pricing issues. But even after almost 2 years from its first issuance, not a lot of Grab riders claimed their refund.
The ride-hailing giant says that the Php25.4 million penalty has been fully disbursed. However, customers didn’t comply to the requirements set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and Grab.
The Grab refund covers three periods back in 2019.
- February 10 to May 10: Php1 every Php1,200
- May 11 to August 10: Php1 every Php450
- August 11 to October: Php1 every Php488
According to a statement from Grab, majority of the users eligible for the refund didn’t bother going through the mandated KYC (Know Your Customer) requirement for the creation of Grab wallet where they will receive the credit.
