If you’re a massive Marvel or Star Wars fan, then we know you have been happily overwhelmed recently by the many new movies and TV shows that expand the universe of these beloved franchises. It’s a great year to be a fan this 2022. That is, if you’re a Disney Plus subscriber.
TV shows like Moon Knight and Obi-Wan Kenobi are currently streaming exclusively on Disney Plus, to rave reviews. Mega blockbusters like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are also set to be available for streaming on the platform.
However, for fans who live in countries where Disney+ is not yet available, it must be a frustrating time knowing that you’re completely missing out. But don’t worry, because there are some workarounds that you can do to get access to and watch Disney Plus’ offerings legally, using a VPN.

Why can’t I access Disney Plus?
Disney Plus is currently available in over 50 countries throughout North America, Europe, and Latin America. In the Asia-Pacific region, the streaming platform is available in countries like Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Australia.
However, there are still several countries where Disney Plus is not yet available, including the Philippines and Vietnam. Disney Plus is geo-restricted, which means that only accounts from supported countries can access the platform. If you try to visit Disney+ from an unsupported country, you will be met with a blank page or a message like “Sorry, Disney+ is not available in your country.”

Will Disney+ be available in my country soon?
Disney Plus has big plans of expanding to all major countries by 2022. Their planned rollout for this year includes launches in countries in Europe, West Asia, and Africa.
There have also been talks of Disney Plus coming to more countries in the Asia-Pacific, including the Philippines. However, this has not been officially confirmed nor has there been an estimated date when the streaming platform will arrive in the country.
How do I access Disney Plus using a VPN?
If you’re not the type to wait around, there is a way to legally watch all your favorite movies and TV shows on Disney Plus, even if you’re in an unsupported country. That is by using a virtual private network (VPN), which has the ability to encrypt your traffic by sending it through an intermediary server in your chosen location (in this case, a supported country). Your device’s IP address is hidden and then switched with one from the chosen location, bypassing geo-restriction by tricking Disney Plus that you’re in that location.
To gain access to Disney+, you will need two things: a suitable VPN provider, and a mode of payment that matches your chosen location (don’t worry, we’ll guide you on how to bypass that as well).

If you already have a VPN subscription, follow these steps to start setting up your Disney Plus account in no time:
Step 1: Download your VPN provider’s app on your device. If you’re using a browser, download and install your VPN’s browser extension.
Step 2: Open the app and select a server in a supported country whose Disney Plus catalog you wish to access.
We recommend choosing a US VPN server if you don’t have a suitable mode of payment matching your desired country.
Step 3: Install the Disney+ app and sign up for an account.
Note that you first have to run your VPN before proceeding with this step. Otherwise, you will not be able to find the Disney Plus app on the App Store or Google Play Store.
Step 4: When prompted for your subscription details, enter a mode of payment that matches your region (i.e. a US credit card if using a US VPN server.)
If you don’t have a suitable mode of payment, read about a possible workaround below.
Step 5: Once your subscription is made, you can now browse the Disney Plus catalog in your chosen location.

How do I pay for my Disney Plus subscription?
Even if you’re already using a VPN to appear like you’re in a Disney Plus-supported country, you will not be able to make it past the signup page and purchase a subscription without having a mode of payment that matches your location. This is another way that Disney Plus restricts its platform to supported countries only.
However, some users have shared a workaround using gift cards to pay for their Disney Plus subscriptions.

How to pay for Disney Plus on iOS
Step 1: Make sure that your VPN is running and using a US server. Download the official app from the App Store if you still don’t have it.
Step 2: Sign out of your current Apple ID. Go to the App Store, and select Create New ID.
When creating the account, set the region to United States. Do NOT add a mode of payment.
Step 3: With your new Apple ID, purchase your desired iTunes gift card.
Make sure the gift card has enough load to cover your Disney Plus subscription.
- Send the gift card to your email address and redeem it in the App Store.
- Sign up for a Disney Plus account using your new Apple ID.
- Use your iTunes gift card to pay for your subscription.

How to pay for Disney Plus on Android
Step 1: Make sure that your VPN is running and using a US server. If you don’t have the app yet, download it from the Google Play Store.
Step 2: Sign out of your current Google account. Go to the Google Play Store, and add a new Google account.
Step 3: Purchase a Google Play Store gift card from Amazon. Send the gift card to your new Google account’s email address.
Make sure the gift card has enough load to cover your Disney+ subscription.
- Log in to your new account, and redeem your gift card in the Google Play Store.
- Sign up for a Disney Plus account using your new Google account.
- Use your Google balance to pay for your subscription.
Borrow a Disney+ account from a friend/relative who lives in a supported country
If you don’t want to go through the trouble of getting your own account, the easiest way to access and watch Disney Plus shows is by borrowing an account from someone in a supported region. Once you have a valid subscription, all you have to do is connect to your VPN and you’ll immediately get access to everything the streaming platform has to offer.
Which VPN should I get to access Disney Plus?
If you don’t have a VPN just yet, you can choose from several top VPN providers that are reliable in bypassing Disney Plus’ geo-restrictions. Our top three VPN recommendations are:
- NordVPN — Good speeds and many additional features
- ExpressVPN — Pricier VPN with strong security and a large network of servers
- Surfshark — A more economic option that works with support for multiple streaming platforms
These VPN providers were selected because of their excellent connection speeds, strong security features, and reliability in unblocking Disney Plus, as well as other streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu.
There are plenty of other options out there, depending on your requirements and desired price points. Just make sure that it’s explicitly stated that they can unlock video streaming sites.
Can I use a free VPN to watch Disney Plus?
If you can find one that works, it’s possible. But it’s very unlikely that you will be able to watch Disney Plus using a free VPN because they are often limited and prone to abuse.
While patiently waiting for Disney Plus to finally come to your country, you can still access Disney Plus’ catalog by working around the geo-restrictions using a VPN. By following our guide, you can watch all of the latest Disney+ offerings, wherever you are in the world — even in unsupported regions and countries.
