Converge ICT is committed to expanding to Visayas and Mindanao. Earlier last week, the company opened its Visayas-Mindanao regional headquarters in Mandaue City.
Back in April, the company announced that it finished the installation of submarine cables to connect the islands to its national fiber backbone. Now, Converge has announced that it’s investing in a billion-peso data center in Cebu.
Per the company CEO Dennis Anthony Uy, the new data center will be constructed in Mandaue City within this year. It will be a 6-storey building that will contain an initial 300 racks for networking hardware.
The building will also accommodate a customer contact center that will hire thousands of employees. As for its broadband services, Converge plans to start rolling out to home and enterprise customers in the cities of Cordova, Lapu-Lapu and Talisay in the following weeks.
The data center will also provide network management, disaster recovery, network redundancy, around-the-clock monitoring, and other services for enterprise customers.
Converge also recently acquired PLDT’s Luzon landing stations for around Php357 million.
