Report: Apple will launch a 5-inch and 5.8-inch bezel-less iPhones next year

It’s the iPhone’s turn to join the curved and bezel-less design game.

According to Barclays Research analysts Blayne Curtis, Jerry Zhang, Thomas O’Malley, and Christopher Hemmelgarn, Apple is preparing a bezel-free iPhone design for next year’s iPhone.

The researchers said that sources from Apple’s supply partners have stated that the iPhone will retain its current dimensions and overall sizes of both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models. Removing the thick borders around the display will give way for the extra screen estate without an increase in the footprint.

MacRumors obtained a research note that reportedly said that only the ‘Plus’ model would get the OLED technology. This year, Apple is expected to transition in using OLED displays because they look better and they are more efficient than its current LCD panels. Sharp, Samsung, and LG are its suppliers in making the OLED. Just two weeks ago, Sharp has already confirmed the existence of OLED-powered iPhones.

The report also mentions KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who claimed early this year that Apple will be launching a 5.8-inch iPhone with a curved display.

Multiple rumors claim that Apple is ready in giving up the iconic home button in favor of a bezel-less design. And because it’s the iPhone’s 10th anniversary next year, it’s very likely that Apple will surprise us with massive changes to the world’s most popular smartphone.

Apple is allegedly heading straight to iPhone 8, skipping the 7S for the special release.
