Apple users are holding onto their iPads for longer periods of time, according to a recent report by CIRP.
The researchers revealed that 40% of iPad users are keeping their tablets for “3 years or more,” which is a 4% rise from 2023 and a 12% increase from 2022. Additionally, 25% of users are holding onto their iPads for 2 to 3 years, a 2% increase from the previous years. On the other hand, the percentage of users keeping their iPads for only 1 to 2 years decreased by 25%. Those who keeping an iPad for less than 1 year has also plummeted by 10%.
CIRP notes that users tend to keep using their tablets until they experience hardware issues such as the device breaking, the battery dying, or running out of storage space. It is important to mention that the study was conducted before the launch of the 2024 iPads, so it will be interesting to see if the new models will influence customers to upgrade sooner than the data until March 2024 suggests.
With the new iPads getting more powerful than ever, it’s probably going to make users keep them for a longer period of time.
