Tech analyst firms have released reports that reveal Apple having beat Samsung during the fourth quarter of 2020 in terms of smartphone sales. The reports also show that Realme of BBK Electronics experienced the best growth during the same period.

Based on findings from Counterpoint Research, IDC, and Canalys, Apple shipped the most devices for Q4 2020 with 81.9 million shipments. That translates to a 21-percent share in the overall smartphone market during the quarter.

Samsung, meanwhile, has dropped to second place with 62.5 million shipments and 16-percent market share. Xiaomi comes third (43 million shipments, 11 percent market share).

Compared to the same quarter of 2019, Apple enjoyed a 13 percent year-on-year increase and a 96 percent quarter-on-quarter increase. Realme, on the other hand, enjoyed an 80 percent year-on-year growth, though it only shipped 14 million devices for Q4 2020. That number is also 5 percent less than the shipments it made during the preceding quarter.
