Based on the specs table above, the two phones are pretty much the same with each other aside from 1 crucial feature, the front/selfie camera.
The Realme 5 has a 13-megapixel front camera while the Realme 5i only has a 8-megapixel selfie camera. That’s a sizeable downgrade from the base unit.
In terms of cameras on the back, both handsets have a 12-megapixel main shooter, 8-megapixel (ultra-wide), 2-megapixel (depth sensor) and 2-megapixel (macro) camera.
On the subject of display, they both have a 6.5-inch LCD screen and a Corning Gorilla Glass protection at the front with plastic at the back. The Realme 5 is said to have Gorilla Glass 3+ protection in front while the Realme 5i’s Gorilla Glass level is currently unspecified.
Performance-wise, they both have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 655 chipset and an Adreno 610 GPU. If your main purchasing decision is reliant on the processor, then there’s good news for you as you don’t need to research which chip is better anymore.
When it comes to memory, the two phones have 3GB and 4GB RAM variants while also having internal storage options of 32GB/64GB/128GB. They can also be expanded up to 256GB only by using a microSD card.

On the other hand, the confirmed pricing of the Realme 5i here in the Philippines is Php6,990 for the 3GB/64GB model.
Depending on the confirmed price of the Realme 5i in the Philippines, we would have to say the Realme 5 takes the win thanks to its better selfie camera. If you’re the type of person who likes to take selfies, then this is one of the best phones for you.
Although, if you’re not an avid fan of taking selfies, then the Realme 5i is definitely the pick as it is cheaper than the base unit.
