It’s no secret that Xiaomi, the famed Chinese smartphone maker, plans to unveil something new in January. One of them is expected to be a 4G variant of the Redmi 1S. The other though is expected to be an even more drool-worthy device: the Redmi Note 2.

The Redmi Note 2 is expected to rock a 5.5 inch Full HD screen, 64-bit octa-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. With those specs, you would expect it to retail somewhere around the Php12-15k mark, but the actual figure that has been floating around is closer to Php7k, possibly even a tad under Php6.5k!

Even if those figures are for the Chinese market, Xiaomi has been quite successful at keeping international pricing as close to the Chinese SRP as possible. What it hasn’t been so good at though is bringing their devices to the Philippines and a few other territories. Unlike other markets, the Philippines has proven to be a tougher nut to crack. Hopefully, we’ll get to see this soon, but I’m not crossing my fingers.
