Counterpoint expects that the market share of the top 10 smartphones for 2023 will increase as “brands focus on clearing inventory and optimizing their launches.”
The research firm also predicts that brands will make their “portfolios leaner in 2023 to minimize cannibalization”. In fact, Counterpint reported that the total number of active smartphone models in 2022 are only around 3,600, which is significantly lower than 2021’s 4,200+.
Brands are also expected to focus on the premiumization of their offerings “to translate volumes into profitability.”
