It didn’t take long before Torque released another Android smartphone for the masses. The new Torque Droidz Play 3G is an entry-level handset that sports a 3.5-inch display and dual-core processor for Php2,999.

The arrival of the Torque Droid Play 3G came hard on the heels of the more expensive, better specced Droidz Life HD. Aimed for the more budget-conscious, the former offers a basic Android experience with the necessary phone functionalities. The dual core MediaTek MT6572 should suffice when running the occasional games and social networking apps, along with 512MB of RAM that’s just enough for simple multitasking.

With the specs above, the Torque Droidz Play 3G can only do so much as a smartphone. The 4GB internal storage easily gets filled with apps that a microSD card is needed soon enough. The battery capacity, on the other hand, can probably keep the device running for some hours before demanding a recharge.

The Torque Droidz Play 3G is also a dual-SIM capable device with dual standby. It further includes an FM radio, Java support, a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, micro-USB port, and 3-axis gyro/accelerometer. Preinstalled applications include Viber and ToDo, although more can be downloaded at the Google Play Store.

Available only in black for Php2,999, the Torque Droidz Play 3G can already be had at all Torque kiosks and concept stores, as well as participating dealers nationwide. So, will you buy this over the similarly priced Starmobile Play or SKK Mobile Wind?
