While Xiaomi now has a new favorite, the Mi 5, the company hasn’t forgotten about its previous generation flagship smartphone. That said, Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi 4S.
It’s basically a refresh of the Mi 4, one that offers several improvements in the hardware. Whereas, the Mi 5 is specced enough to be considered a high-end smartphone, the Mi 4S is somewhere in the gap between midrange and high-end.
Compared to the Mi 4, the Mi 4S has a faster processor and better 4G LTE support. It also has bigger battery capacity, upgraded exterior design and better main camera (now with phase detection autofocus). Also setting the Mi 4S apart from the previous series, including the Mi 4c and Mi 4i, is its use of a hybrid microSD slot and fingerprint sensor. It has 64GB of internal storage, with no other storage options available. The Android Marshmallow-based MIUI 7.0 runs out of the box.
The remaining specs of the Mi 4S are more or less the same: 5-inch IPS display, 3GB of RAM, 5-megapixel selfie camera and infrared sensor. Interested mobile users might also appreciate the Quick Charge 2.0 feature via the USB Type-C connector.
