Announced for the Philippine theatrical release, well in advance of the Japanese cinematic debut, the release date for Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village for the Philippines is finally unveiled by ODEX Philippines. And it is far closer than many might think—March 22, 2023.

Literally, just a few days away from the date of this publishing, ODEX Philippines made the pronouncement official with a poster that it distributed on its Facebook page. On it, the date is clearly laid out as “22 March 23” below an all-cap text stating “EXCLUSIVELY AT SM CINEMA”.

Unwitting anime fans might be led to think that Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village as yet another movie entry from the franchise similar to 2020’s widely successful Mugen Train. However, at only 20 minutes of running time, it is not; rather, it is just a special episode, which consists of the final two episodes from last year’s Entertainment District arc and the first episode for the upcoming third season.

With the Entertainment District arc regarded by many as the second season of the popular anime series, the forthcoming season makes for the third season that fans should also look forward to.

As for why the theatrical release, it simply is a case of being able to see it on the big screen—likely, as a means of cashing in on the Demon Slayer franchise’s overblown prominence which stemmed from the global health crisis.
