An Apple representative claims that 8GB RAM on an M3-powered MacBook Pro is like having 16GB on a Windows PC.

This claim was made by Apple VP for worldwide product marketing Bob Borchers while being interviewed by Chinese content creator Lin YilYi. The executive was responding to criticism regarding a “pro” laptop only having a base memory of 8GB.

Borchers said that comparing Apple’s system memory with others “isn’t equivalent” because theirs apparently has a more efficient utilization of memory.

He goes on by saying “Actually, 8GB on an M3 MacBook Pro is probably analogous to 16GB on other systems.” Borchers added that other people who will test their systems will “see incredible performance” as they have “phenomenal” raw data and capabilities.

Like on all Apple products, the executive said that “people need to look beyond the specifications and actually go and understand how that technology is being used. That’s the true test.”
