ASUS Zenfone 5 owners, rejoice! Just recently, ASUS has finally made the Android Pie update available for their current flagship smartphone.
The Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) ASUS Zenfone 5 Android 9 Pie update is now available inside a 1.1GB file download, which you can get here.
To install your new software, all you have to do is copy the downloaded file to your microSD card. Get into the Recovery Mode by pressing the volume up and the power button at the same time while the device is off.
Once you’re inside, choose the “Apply Updates From microSD” option and find the update file that you downloaded. Hit a few confirmation buttons and you’re all set.
But if you don’t want to get in all of that trouble, you can just wait for the official OTA update to arrive on your device. ASUS said that it will be coming in the next few days.
Your Zenfone 5 shall notify you once the update is already available for download and install.
ASUS also said that the same update will hit the more premium Zenfone 5Z sometime in January. However, there are no details yet on whether or not ASUS’ other devices, including the Zenfone 5Q, will be updated to the latest Android 9 Pie update.
