GoPro has launched this year’s installment to their popular action and 360-degree cameras. Meet the new GoPro Hero 8 Black and GoPro Max.

Let’s start with the GoPro Hero 8 Black. The main highlight of this device is the new GoPro Mod accessories. This means that you can now mount select accessories directly right into the camera itself, no need for distracting case.

You can attach an external flash, selfie stick, front view screen, microphone, and more without the need for a bulky case. You can get these mod accessories from GoPro themselves.

GoPro also introduced the new HyperSmooth 2.0 for smoother action clips, which works in different resolutions and frame rates. There’s also the TimeWarp 2.0 for automatic frame rate adjustment. You can also easily switch between four different view types (SuperView, Narrow, Linear, and Wide) by simply tapping the screen.

The new build also allowed the GoPro Hero 8 Black to be waterproof (up to 33ft), have better audio capture, and to be 14% lighter.

We also have the GoPro Max. This 360-degree camera has cameras in front and back for a surround video recording experience. The company also claims that it has shotgun-mic 360 audio recording quality, perfect for vloggers out there.

Just like the Hero 8 Black, the Max has an improved stabilization feature. Dubbed as Max HyperSmooth, it can take 360 videos like it’s mounted on a gimbal. There’s also the Max TimeWarp for easier frame rate adjustment.

The two share an identical interface as you can also easily switch between different fields of view with this one. For easier operation, both models have voice commands, so you can easily ask it to take a picture or start recording for you.

The GoPro Hero 8 Black will have a price of USD499 (~Php25,900) while the GoPro Max will be at USD399 (~Php20,700). The former will be available globally starting October 20, while the latter will arrive on October 24. But if the newer model doesn’t appeal to you, then you might want to just wait for its predecessor’s price to go down for better value.
