It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally at the stage where cheap 5G smartphones are ready to rollout in the market.
5G technology is already in some high-end smartphones last year, but this time around budget alternatives won’t be too far off. In the past, it took quite some time for 4G LTE to be equipped in entry and midrange handsets when it was still in infancy.
But with 5G, things are going to be different. The President of the 5G Division of Huawei, Yang Chaobin, said that they are in the process of releasing affordable sub-$150 5G smartphones before the year ends.

In the next few months, we expect Huawei to launch a HiSilicon Kirin processor for budget and midrange smartphones. And if they are really serious about having an alternative to Android, they might even test out HarmonyOS in those handsets.
Not a lot of countries have support for 5G as of the moment, but PH telcos already announced that they are working hard to bring it to Filipinos this year. In fact, there are some places where they are already testing 5G in the Philippines.
