We’re entering the fourth quarter of the year, which means that new smartphones are about to arrive in time for the holiday season.
One of the much-awaited devices incoming is the Huawei Mate 30 series. With their launch imminent for the next few months, leaks and rumors are starting to build up, with the budget-friendly Huawei Mate 30 Lite being the first to be spotted in the wild.
The Mate 30 Lite, or the Nova 5i Pro as what it’s going to be called in China, will have an identical design to the Mate 20 Pro of last year. A couple of live images of the device was presented online by a Weibo user.
It will have the same textured back panel, with a quad-camera setup housed in a 2×2 orientation inside a single piece of glass. It’s composed of a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel shooter (possibly ultra-wide), and two 2-megapixel sensors.
An LED flash is sitting outside the box, with a fingerprint scanner seen on the bottom.
Just like the new Nova 5i, the Mate 30 Lite will have a punch-hole display for the front-facing camera, sitting on the top left of its 6.26-inch screen.
The Mate 30 Lite is expected to come with the new Kirin 810 chipset with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. That’s the same chipset found on the Nova 5. It’s been also revealed that the device will have a 3,900mAh battery.

Just like last year, we might expect the Huawei Mate 30 Lite to be revealed a few weeks earlier before the flagship models do. With that, we expect the Chinese company to make the announcement sometime in September.
