Huawei held a special event and introduced their latest products that will gear them for the upcoming 5G era. One of them is the new Balong 5000 5G modem.

Alongside its announcement, Huawei also teased that they are planning on introducing the first-ever device that will sport the latest Balong 500 5G modem at MWC 2019 this coming February.

The most interesting part is, the said smartphone will be a foldable one. And if Huawei can beat everyone to the race, this is going to be the first foldable handset to have ultra-fast 5G connectivity.

This reveal is just a few days after Xiaomi showcased their own foldable smartphone prototype — which already gained a lot of attention because of how well the implementation seems to work. We’ll see how the excitement with Xiaomi’s bet holds up once we see Huawei’s.

Besides the foldable phone, we shall also expect Huawei to introduce other mobile products in the event. For one, there’s the highly-anticipated Huawei P30 series, which shall also sport the said Balong 5000 modem and the company’s current Kirin 980 flagship processor.

The MWC 2019 in Barcelona is still a couple of weeks from now (February 25 to 28). And from the rumors and leaks that we’re hearing as of now, we can hardly wait.
