The Corona Virus outbreak (now renamed COVID-19) has been causing worldwide panic and precautions for the 3rd month now. This time, it trapped passengers on a cruise ship in Japan.

The Diamond Princess, carrying more than 3,700 passengers on board from 50 countries, docked on the Japanese coast of Yokohama earlier this month. However, a man who disembarked in Hong Kong was tested positive from this deadly virus. This caused the ship to be placed under quarantine.

Based on a report by Macotakara, this also made the Japanese government decide to distribute 2,000 free iPhone products to the stranded passengers. In turn, it would allow the passengers to access an application produced by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

The app will allow the passengers to contact a doctor for consultation. The government ensured that each cabin had their own smartphone. Besides, those smartphones registered outside of Japan wouldn’t be able to access the said application.

According to the government, they shall begin testing traveler’s health status starting February 18, 2020. Passengers who are tested negative are those allowed to exit the vessel starting February 21, 2020.

Japan had always performed remarkable response towards its people, and the outbreak is a concern which really calls for the world to work hand-in-hand. What do you think about the Japanese government’s actions? You can let us know your comments below.
