The first phablet from Nokia is here. Boasting a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and a 6-inch 1080p screen, the Nokia Lumia 1520 is considerably a turning point for the Finish company in its ongoing effort to challenge the Android and iPhone market dominance.

Looking at the specs alone, the Lumia 1520 is arguably the best Windows Phone soon to become available. In fact, Nokia is the first manufacturer using Microsoft’s mobile operating system to make use of the aforementioned CPU and display—the high resolution of which results in a high pixel density that’s well over 300ppi. Apps should run smoothly thanks to the generous amount of RAM available (2GB). Last, but far from least, LTE and NFC provides fast and convenient connectivity.

Yet another notable aspect of the Nokia Lumia 1520 is its rear shooter with a whopping 20-megapixel resolution. While not as rich as the 41MP sensor used in the Lumia 1020, it does come with several features: auto focus, touch to focus, optical image stabilization, ISO control, and PureView zoom capability.

It’s also hard to ignore the built-in 3400mAh battery. At such capacity, the Lumia 1520 should be able to keep going for at least a full workday before needing to recharge. With a 32-day stand-by time, talk time in 3G is estimated to last up to 25 hours.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is expected to go on sale sometime next month. With the stellar specs in mind, the price won’t probably come cheap. Reports are suggesting as much as $749 before carrier subsidies and taxes. Available colors are red, yellow, black, or white. If that sounds too much for you, you can check out the more affordable Nokia Lumia 1320.

Only time will tell if Nokia Lumia 1520 proves to be attractive alternative for users to Android and iOS devices. Nevertheless, the 1520 sure is a specs beast.
