The competition between Chinese smartphone makers is really heating up in India. And apparently, OPPO is going after Xiaomi’s Redmi family by coming up with a sub-brand that has an awfully-familiar name — the Realme.

Redmi and Realme don’t sound the same at all, right? But kidding aside, the OPPO Realme 1, the first device under this new name, will do what Xiaomi Redmi smartphones are doing for years.

Under Realme, OPPO might be planning on offering smartphones that are actually value-oriented. And since this is an Amazon India-exclusive brand, we can surely expect it to retail less than OPPO’s other offerings which we see in physical stores.

Unfortunately, the company hasn’t revealed many details regarding the specs of the OPPO Realme 1. Judging by the teaser image shown, the back is identical to the OPPO F7 (read our review) Diamond Black color variant sans the fingerprint scanner.

It also has a single rear camera, which clearly means that this is going to be a reasonably-priced smartphone. As per its Amazon listing, the Realme 1 is “crafted for the youth” and is where “Power meets Style”.

This device might be one of the offsprings of OPPO’s push on research and development.

OPPO is expected to spill all the details about the Realme 1 on May 15th. And since the company is saying that it is “Made for and in India” it’s not yet clear if the Realme 1 will come to other countries like the Philippines.

i am an IOS user (from android), at mas OK sakin ang IOS for 2 reasons
    – tumatagal ang phone
    – synchronized ang updates ng firmware

Well ganun talaga kulelat kayo e.
