The Pakistani police calls for the banning of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) after a teenager apparently confessed that the game drove him to massacre his family.

As per the police, the teenager shot and killed his mother, brother, and two sisters last January 18 citing that PUBG drove him to violence.

Imran Kishwar, a police investigator from eastern Lahore said that “This is not the first incident of its nature,” which led them to the decision to recommend the banning of the game.

PUBG is one of the many multiplayer online battle royale games that was initially available on PC and consoles and has reached more audiences when it was made available on mobile.

It is said that the 18-year-old suspect was living in complete isolation inside his room and was apparently addicted to PUBG. A police officer from Lahore said that the suspect “fired at his family thinking that they will also come back to life, as happened in the game”.

The telecom authorities have apparently received several complaints about PUBG’s violent content that they’ve previously blocked access to the game temporarily.

Pakistan is not the only country to have pushed the banning of the game, permanently or temporarily, as places like China and India also did the same.
