In a Facebook post, Xiaomi Philippines said that they will delay the local launch of their upcoming smartphone, the Redmi Note 9s. The act is in light with the community quarantine of the whole Luzon island.

The said announcement didn’t come as a surprise as the whole country is now under a state of calamity due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Shopping malls are close with only the supermarkets, pharmacy, banks, and some restaurants as exception.

Xiaomi Philippines first teased the new Redmi Note 9s last week, and scheduled the launch in March 23.

According to teasers, the Redmi Note 9S will come with a quad-camera setup and a punch-hole display, like its Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max siblings.

Speculations say that it might come powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G SoC or a MediaTek processor. Moreover, it might have a 4GB or 6GB RAM variant, with 64GB and 128GB storage options.

Since the Redmi Note 9S is the supposed lite version, it is highly possible that it will feature a smaller full HD+ screen, compared to the 6.67-inch display of Redmi Note 9 Pro. Leaks also suggest that the Redmi Note 9S will have 5,020mAh battery coupled with 18W charging.

Currently, Xiaomi stores in Luzon are closed indefinitely, while their Lazada and Shopee stores are still operating as of writing. The brand might release the Redmi Note 9S on April when the community quarantine ends.

On the other note, we hope for everyone’s safety so please stay at home.
