At long last, it looks like HMD Global is finally ready to reveal the highly-anticipated Nokia 9 smartphone.
The latest report suggests that the company will beat everyone to the race and will be introducing the Nokia 9 ahead of MWC 2019 in late February.
This move will allegedly prevent the Nokia 9 to be compared on Snapdragon 855-equipped smartphones that are expected to be unveiled at MWC in Barcelona.
For those who are unfamiliar, the Nokia 9 has been in development for a couple of months now, hence it will only come with a Snapdragon 845, yesterday’s flagship processor.
But to mend that, rumors also claim that HMD Global is working on a Snapdragon 855 variant for the Nokia 9 — quite possibly a “Sirocco” model.
The device’s long-overdue release might have something to do with its penta-camera rear setup. Yup, that’s five cameras on a single smartphone. This leads us to believe that Nokia might be reviving the PureView branding for this one.
As for the rest of the specs, the Nokia 9 is expected to have a 5.99-inch QHD OLED screen with an in-display fingerprint scanner. It will have up to 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a large 4,150mAh battery with wireless charging.
It’s also suspected to come with IP68 water and dust protection and will run on stock Android 9 Pie OS, just like its older brothers.
As for the price, the Nokia 9 might retail for CNY6,000 (~Php46,200). Clearly, having five cameras on a smartphone doesn’t come cheap.
