The iPhone X’s display notch isn’t the best design decision that Apple has ever made. However, it did provide a distinct and signature look that can only be attributed to the iPhone X. But not until Android manufacturers copy it.
Devices like the Oukitel U18 has already led the pack in copying Apple’s biggest design mistake. This time, it looks like OPPO will follow suit with the rumored OPPO R15 and R15 Plus.
The duo will be the successor to the R11s and R11s Plus that were released late last year.
We still have no idea about the devices’ features and specs. However, thanks to the renders that leaked in Weibo — a Chinese social media website — we at least have an idea of how it would look like.
Judging by the images, the R15’s iPhone X-like design looks uncanny. The device carries the notch on top but we’re still not sure if it has complex sensors like the iPhone’s, which will make its presence bearable.
However, if you look at it, the OPPO R15 actually looks really sleek. The device has really thin bezels all around — an appeal that it was able to inherit from the iPhone X.
Moving on, the back looks the same with last year’s model. It has some iPhone 7-like antenna bands on the top, with a fingerprint scanner in the middle, and a dual-camera system in a horizontal orientation. That’s contrary to the previous leak that shows a rumored OPPO R device with an iPhone X-like camera design at the back.
UPDATE: It’s now official.
If we were to guess its specifications based on its predecessor, the OPPO R15 and R15 Plus will still have upper midrange level hardware. The screen might have a Full HD+ AMOLED panel, a Snapdragon 600-series chipset (rumored to be 670), VOOC fast charging, and most probably an over-the-top selfie camera.
But still, your guess is as good as mine. Let’s just wait and see what OPPO has in store for us. For now, let’s all take this with a grain of salt.
