2018 is shaping up to be the best year for Vivo. From the first under-display fingerprint scanner technology that they showcased at Consumer Electronics Show, up to the APEX concept smartphone that they revealed in Mobile World Congress, Vivo clearly has impressive plans for their upcoming devices.

And to see the under-display fingerprint in action, it appears that the company is preparing a handset dubbed as the Vivo X21. What we know so far is that this device will be having its fingerprint scanner fully-embedded on the screen itself.

Moreover, a recent leak also gave us a sneak peak of the primary features that this smartphone will have. The device was spotted in AnTuTu, a popular smartphone benchmarking app, and the listing revealed key details about the X21.

UPDATE: Vivo X21 is now official.

As per AnTuTu, the Vivo X21 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor — a chipset that’s running on most high-rated midrange devices today. It will be accompanied by 6GB of RAM and a spacious 128GB internal storage.

The X21 will also come with a Full HD+ display and it’s going to be supported by an Adreno 512 GPU. Running everything on the software side is the new Android 8.1.0 Oreo.

Design-wise, the X21 is expected to follow the design language of the long-rumored Vivo V9 —which took a lot of design cues from the iPhone X.

The leaked renders didn’t have a back shot of the device. Hence, we can’t tell if it will have a dual-camera setup at the back. However, the front images confirm that it will have ultra-thin bezels with a screen notch on top.

There’s no official word yet about a Vivo X21 release, but it’s expected to come out alongside the V9 in select countries.
