Converge ICT is partnering with American tech giant Supermicro to equip its three forthcoming data centers with artificial intelligence (AI) technology, aiming to modernize operations.

Last week, Converge announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Supermicro, a Nasdaq-listed information technology company. The collaboration focuses on leveraging AI for various applications and cloud solutions, including machine learning and smart manufacturing.

According to an Access Partnership and Google study, PH companies incorporating AI into their operations could generate Php2.8 trillion in revenues and cost savings by 2030.

In addition to AI, the memorandum outlines plans for installing Supermicro’s liquid cooling solutions in Converge’s servers. This technology is anticipated to reduce energy consumption by up to 40%, lowering both environmental impact and operational expenses.

Beyond data center investments, Converge is also progressing on several other major projects. By 2025, the company aims to complete the South-East Asia Hainan-Hong Kong Express Cable System (SEA-H2X) and Bifrost Cable System.

The 15,000-kilometer Bifrost project will link the Philippines to Singapore, Guam, Indonesia and North America, with a capacity of up to 15 terabits per second. On the other hand, the 5,000-km SEA-H2X project, designed to handle 160 terabits per second, will connect the Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, and East Malaysia.

Additionally, Converge is collaborating with Globe Telecom Inc. on a second joint fiber optic network project. The 209-km fiber project, which connects Tacloban and Maasin via Baybay in Leyte, is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2024.

The construction of these Converge data centers, located in Laguna, Pampanga, and Caloocan, is slated to commence this year.
