PLDT has posted record growth for its consumer wireless business from January to September 2020, attributing the boost in revenue to strong user demand and increased market share.
Smart and TNT, which comprise PLDT’s consumer wireless business, recorded a 15-percent year-on-year increase in revenues for the first three quarters, equivalent to ₱60.8 billion.
According to Smart chief executive officer Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT has consistently gained wireless market share for the last six quarters, and this made them the leading company in terms of mobile data traffic and users.
For the first nine months of the year, mobile traffic through PLDT reached 2,114 petabytes, a 91-percent year-on-year boost. Active Smart data users reached 36.8 million by the end of September.
PLDT attributes its record-growth to greater data adoption thru incentives and mobile promos, including Giga and GigaPro. Smart also claims 95-percent mobile network coverage in the Philippines.
