Other than their smartphones, smartwatches, and other consumer products, Huawei is also known for its industrial and business products like telco and wireless infrastructure, intelligent computing, and more.

So, don’t expect you can get an over-the-counter Huawei GPU for your gaming PC anytime soon.

With that in mind, the kind of GPU business that Huawei plans to penetrate is the service-grade ones that would handle AI and cloud computations. That specific market is currently dominated by NVIDIA.

Based on a rumor, Huawei is currently setting up a research facility in South Korea. And to make sure that they’re doing it right, it’s said that Huawei is recruiting engineers from the company that dominates the business GPU market — NVIDIA.

This might be one of Huawei’s move to ease the burden that the US-ban brought to the company. Since they were prohibited to use Google Mobile Services on their smartphones, even the flagship ones, Huawei has seen a huge drop in smartphone shipments.

However, the company is still expected to recover. Other than their attempts to enter the GPU market, Huawei has also released its first OLED TV with a high refresh rate. They were also considered as the top company with most patent filing for three consecutive years. You can still expect more from this company despite the US ban.
