Nope, that’s not the Apple Watch that you’re seeing in the featured image. That is the OPPO Watch, the first smartwatch from the Chinese tech brand.
The OPPO Watch does come with a few differences in design with the Apple Watch. For one, it lacks the popular Digital Crown and the screen is curvier. Still, at first look, the similarities are uncanny.
It has a square AMOLED screen that you can get on either 1.6-inches or 1.9-inches. Besides its form-factor, the watch faces and the entire ColorOS user interface really makes it feel like an Apple Watch copycat.
In lieu of the Digital Crown, the device comes with two physical buttons on the right side to help you navigate the interface. The entire thing is encased in an aluminum chassis for the extra premium feel. It’s rated for 5ATM of water resistance so you can go swimming with it.
Under the hood, the OPPO Watch is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 processor, with an Apollo 3 co-processor, and 8GB of internal storage.
Probably its most interesting feature is the VOOC charging support, which can provide 50% of charge in just 17 minutes. But unlike the Huawei Watch GT and other Android smartwatches, it only lasts for 40 days. Although you can extend that to 21 days under power-saving mode.
The OPPO Watch has a price of CNY1,999 (~Php14,500) for the 46mm variant, while the 41mm will be at CNY1,499 (~Php10,900). It will go on sale in China this March 24.
Its release details in the Philippines is yet to be announced, but we expect it to arrive alongside the flagship OPPO Find X2 and X2 Pro smartphones.
