The 18:9 display revolution might have just reached its full realization. Take a look at the new Doogee X53 — a new smartphone that has the said screen type, but packed inside a budget-friendly hardware.
The Doogee X53 has all the basic specifications that you’d expect from a low-end smartphone. However, its appealing all-screen display might just make up for it. Well, maybe just for now. The 18:9 aspect ratio screen has just reached the budget category, and as the time goes by, it might just become the norm — making it no longer exciting.
But still, we appreciate this move. This 5.3-inch screen only has an underwhelming 960 x 480 pixel resolution (similar to the Cloudfone Thrill Boost 3), something to be expected for this price tag. At the back, there’s a dual-camera system, but they only have 5-megapixel each sensor. But then again, it only costs less than Php4k. So clearly, it’s not made to impress people.

Inside it has a MediaTek quad-core CPU, with only 1GB of RAM but with 16GB of onboard storage. The memory might be lacking, but we’re surprised that the storage isn’t limited to 8GB — something that we usually see on affordable devices of this caliber. Lastly, it’s running on Android 7.0 Nougat and is powered by a removable 2200mAh battery.
