Huawei just joined the 18:9-display party. In a recent announcement, the Chinese company unveiled the new Huawei Maimang 6 — a device packed with almost all of the bells and whistles you’d expect from a 2017 midrange smartphone.

The star of the show is the tall 5.9-inch display on the Huawei Maimang 6. It has a resolution of 2160 x 1080 and it boasts an aspect ratio of 18:9. Needless to say, it’s Huawei’s own entry on the intensifying 18:9-display competition.

The Maimang 6 will go head-to-head to other midrange devices of the same screen type. There’s the Vivo V7+Vivo X20, Doogee Mix 2, and the rumored OPPO F5.

And just like some of the devices that it will go against with, this handset will sport a quad-camera setup. The configuration on the front will be a 13-megapixel sensor partnered with a 2-megapixel sensor, while on the back are 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel camera shooters.

Both the front and back primary camera are only supported by a low-resolution sensor, which makes me believe that it will only be used for gathering depth information. This will only enable Portrait/Bokeh mode — no wide-angle lens or telephoto.
