The Samsung Galaxy A30, like all the other Galaxy A devices that were launched this year, is a major step up from the midrange devices that Samsung has released from the past.
However, as what you just saw above, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 offers better specs and features across the board. The best part is, it’s even Php1,000 cheaper than the former.
The biggest win of the new Y9 Prime 2019 is the design. There’s the aforementioned pop-up camera, which does not only provide a cool look on the device but also allowed it to have an almost bezel-less screen.
It also has a more attractive dual finish on the back. While the Galaxy A30 settles for a slightly boring all-glass panel. But to give Samsung some credit, the Galaxy A30 does have a unique reflective coating that gives a colorful reflection as it reacts to light.
We also the cameras on the back. The Galaxy A30 only comes with a 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel (ultra wide) dual cameras. While the Y9 Prime 2019 gives you more flexibility as it comes with a 16-megapixel primary shooter, an extra 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 also has a marginally bigger 6.59-inch FHD+ IPS display. But, there’s no denying that the 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen on the Samsung Galaxy A30 delivers better colors and contrast.
Huawei is still bringing home the bacon in terms of performance. Benchmark tests show that the Kirin 710F processor on the Y9 Prime 2019 provides better overall performance and gaming than the Exynos 7885 chipset on the Galaxy A30.
Both devices come with the same 4GB of memory, but the Huawei device has twice the storage capacity at 128GB (vs 64GB).

Both devices run on the latest Android 9 Pie with their own manufacturer-made skins. However, it’s worth noting that the Samsung One UI on the Galaxy A30 is cleaner and more straightforward than the saturated EMUI 9 on the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019.
They also come with 4,000mAh battery, with the Galaxy A30 coming with 15W of fast charging support.
Overall, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 steals the win on this specs comparison. This smartphone retails for Php12,990. While the Samsung Galaxy A30 has an SRP of Php13,990. Both devices are now available in their respective stores, kiosks, and in multi-brand shops nationwide.
