We are now seeing the phase two of gaming smartphone. A couple of weeks ago we saw the Razer Phone 2, and now, we have the Nubia Red Magic Mars.
The follow-up to the first Red Magic comes with upgraded hardware, and a few other extras that makes the Nubia Red Magic Mars a more suitable smartphone for avid mobile gamers.
It’s now powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, a new ICE dual heat pipe and convection thermal solution, and will come with up to 10GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage.
The Red Magic Mars also has a dedicated button to enable game mode, which will basically block any distracting notifications. Plus, Nubia added new shoulder triggers, which is identical to the AirTriggers found on the ASUS ROG Phone.
For a more immersive experience, the Nubia Red Magic Mars also comes with stereo speakers, DTS 7.1 surrount audio, and an aggressive haptic feedback, which they are calling “4D shock”.
Just like what ASUS did on the ROG Phone, Nubia is introducing a few proprietary gaming accessories for the Red Magic Mars. There’s an attachable game controllers and an adapter that combines a USB Type-C port for charging and a headphone jack with DAC built-in.
It still has the same edgy design with an LED strip on the middle. However, it now has a camoflouge design that’s exclusive to the top-of-the-line variant.
But unlike most high-end smartphones, the Nubia Red Magic Mars only has a single 16-megapixel primary camera, while on the front we have an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies.
